Marisa Colston, Ph.D., ATC

 
Dr. Colston is a tenured professor and the graduate coordinator in the Department of Health and Human Performance, and a faculty member in the Graduate Athletic Training Program (GATP) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
 
As former GATP program director, she led the program through two successful accreditations. She has been a recipient of the UTC Student Government Most Outstanding Professor Award, an NATA Service Award, the SEATA Education Administration Award, and the TATS Educator of the Year Award.  She was recently appointed as the NATA liaison to the North American Spine Society and also appointed to the NATA Committee on Professional Ethics.  
 
Dr. Colston's research focuses on lumbar spine injury prevention, with a particular interest in the relationship between the core and lower extremity. She also intensely studies the ethical and professional aspects of athletic training.
