Neeru Jayanthi M.D., USPTA

Dr. Jayanthi is Director, Tennis Medicine, Associate Program Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Associate Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedics and Family Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

He was previously a physician and professor at Loyola University Chicago, where he was Team Physician for its athletic program and for a number of area high schools, Dr. Jayanthi has also served as a volunteer physician for the American Tennis Professional (ATP) tour for more than ten years, is Vice President and Chair of Education for the International Society for Tennis Medicine and Science (STMS), and a certified USPTA teaching professional. 

In addition to being a member of MomsTEAM Institute’s Board of Advisors, Dr. Jayanthi serves on the board of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), as a consultant for the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness and Aspen Institute’s Sport and Society Program, and on the commission for the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA). 

He conducts research on sports-related injuries and illnesses in elite-level and recreational athletes, and has been the recipient of multiple AMSSM Foundation Research Grants for his collaborative work on early sports specialized training in young athletes, and has designed injury prevention and conditioning programs for competitive and elite junior tennis programs. 

A sought-after speaker, Dr. Jayanthi has presented at over 100 local, regional, national and international conferences and training centers, and is the author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and book chapters, and is a reviewer of several sports medicine journals.

Dr. Jayanthi has recently appeared on WGN News Sports Radio, WGN-TV News “Medical Watch,”, ABC News, CBS News, WGN and CLTV “Living Healthy” TV show, XM radio, NPR.  His recent research findings on junior tennis players and elite young athletes have been the subject of articles in such national newspapers as The New York Times, and Washington Post.
