Helmets Need NOCSAE Certification, Reconditioning, Proper Fit, Says MacDonald

While there will likely never be a concussion-proof helmet, there are simpe steps that can be taken right now that are proven to maximize the protection that helmets provide, says Dr. Jim MacDonald, a clinical professor at Ohio State and pediatric sports medicine specialist at Nationwide Children's Hospital, including making sure the helmet fits, that it has Nocsae certification, and that it is periodically reconditioned.
