Ron Walker, Ed.D., ATC, LAT, CSCS

Dr. Walker is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Athletic Training at The University of Tulsa, where he also serves as the Coordinator of Athletic Training Clinical Education.  

He is a licensed & certified athletic trainer with nearly 20 years experience in injury/illness prevention, clinical evaluation & diagnosis, immediate & emergency care, therapeutic intervention/treatment, & rehabilitation of injuries & medical conditions.

Dr. Walker's areas of specialization include kinesiology, evaluation of upper extremity injury, & legal/ethical considerations of practice. Previously he served as the founding director of the AT Program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and as an AT with Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center, where he also served as the head AT for Union High School. Throughout his career, he has been involved as a provider at countless high school and youth athletic events. His professional experience in outpatient orthopedics, high school outreach, NCAA Division I & II, & education have afforded him the opportunity to interact with a vast network of AT professionals in diverse settings while promoting the consideration of contemporary professional issues from a variety of perspectives.

Ron is very active in AT service leadership at state, regional, & national levels. He has served as President of the Oklahoma AT Association; OATA Treasurer; as a member of the Mid-America AT Association Board of Directors & finance committee. Currently, he serves as Treasurer of the MAATA, as a member of the National AT Association Specialty Awards committee, as an accreditation site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of AT Education, and on the Board of Certification Regulatory Conference advisory panel.

Ron is a recipient of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Service Award and works tirelessly with legislators and safety advocates in establishing policy and law that will improve safety in youth and secondary sports while promoting athletic training.
